Betty's parents must go on a long cruise for the sake of her father's health, and the decision is made to send ten-year-old Betty to the local boarding school so that the family governess is free to take care of mischievous Baby Harold, who is more than a handful for one person. At first reluctant, Betty soon finds herself in her element with girls of her own age. Living up to her father's standard of honour, however, puts Betty at odds with her friends, and she must make some choices. Betty's First Term is a lively one for all concerned.
